This book has REALLY improved my health. My five stars (I'd give ten, if allowed) is based first on the little information on p. 27 stating that certain medications (for me, beta blockers and calcium channel blockers) can relax the sphincter that allows acid to come up the esophagus. Changing my hypertension medication made all the difference in the world--essentially overnight. In addition I've much improved my digestion in general by following the fiber, oils, probiotics, and enzymes recommendations (although I've found other sources for these items than listed in the book). My only criticism is that the book's index is very, very weak. I'd recommend that you simply enter references there to any information that you believe that you'll probably want to find again.

Absolutely Wonderful. The best book I have ever read on how the digestive system works. It not only describes the numerous stomach/digestive problems we all have, but easy to follow solutions to solve them in a non invasive way. I have been looking for a book like this for ages. I have already implemented a couple of solutions and they are working. After many years of doctors visits with no improvement, just more pills, I now have found real solutions to cure/heal long term problems with my digestive system. I encourage anyone who has had chronic digestive problems to get this book. You will be so glad you did.

OK now, this may be a bit picky but...
I returned the book because the slick paper and all the pictures got in the way of accessing content. I love pictures & color but it was all too much!
The gutters and margins were also just too small.
I did enjoy the PBS special but found the books difficult to access.
