Why don't more people know about this? June 9, 2007 13 out of 16 found this review helpful
This book has a ton of great insights about disease prevention. Doctors rarely, if ever, provide information on prevention because prevention is not profitable for either hospitals or big pharma. If everybody took a little more time to understand how their bodies work, we'd have a lot less disease in our society. Prevention is the key to good health and you truly are what you eat. We can't expect to fill our bodies with garbage and expect good results.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to live a vital, disease-free life. Read the book and buy a copy for someone you love. Don't rely on doctors to keep you healthy. You can only rely on yourself.
I also highly recommend The Coconut Miracle. If you do nothing else, please introduce coconut oil into your diet and you will see amazing results.
Do yourself a favor, get this book. May 4, 2007 32 out of 37 found this review helpful
I have been fasting/detoxing for many years. It is a passion of mine, and I don't have many interests in my life that I consider passions. Fasting/detoxing, some have claimed, is a gift you give yourself. I truly agree with this proclaimation.
Of all the material I have read about detoxing...this is the most insightful, through, and overall, best source.
This book is not full of religious quotes like a lot of detox/fasting books, although Fife does mention that many religions believe in fasting for clarity and health. This is a more scientific approach.
There are a lot of pictures, the columns are set up in a fast-paced reading style, and the stories and inspiring.
Good Body Cleansing Information..... April 13, 2007 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
This book was very helpful during my first body cleanse. I especially liked the chapter on the healing crisis you go through while cleansing. It reassured me that my skin breaking out, ect...were all a normal part of your body releasing toxins. I found this book to be an easy read with alot of interesting information. It is a great guide on how to get healthy and delay the ageing process.
Good book, but a little unrealistic at times January 26, 2006 149 out of 162 found this review helpful
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I've actually implemented much of the advice given, such as the All Natural Diet. This book has a lot of really good, useful information, and I was very enlightened on the chapters about fasting. I plan to try my first fast in the next week or so.
My biggest issue with the book was some of the unrealistic and biased information the author gives. For example, the author is clearly a vegetarian. While I have nothing against vegetarians, I do love my meat, which he suggests people should not eat at all. He also suggests that people should not drink water from plastic containers, or eat food from cans. I use broths from cans all the time. I've never seen broth sold in glass jars, nor do I have the time to make my own broth. He gives a lot of very enlightening information on the hazards of eating fish. Much of the world's fish come from polluted rivers, streams, and bays, so it makes sense that the fish themselves are polluted. But I think most people know the health benefits of eating fish. So this was a confusing point for me. In general, he suggests eating and drinking only those foods that are completely toxin free, which in our world is virtually impossible.
If you are a carnivore, and you can look past the author's anti-meat campaign, as well as many of the completely unrealistic suggestions on eating/living toxin free (e.g. no water from plastic, no food from cans), the rest of the book should be very interesting and helpful.
Great source of overall information October 18, 2005 22 out of 29 found this review helpful
I really enjoyed reading this book. I am glad I spent the money and time on this book. It really opened up my eyes to a lot of things I never really thought about. I am now more concious of what I do with my body. I am doing a 12 day detoxification program and I am going to implement some of his methods into it and I am excited about doing it! I have been recommending this book to my clients to get them to understand really what steps need to be done in order to truely be healthy. Most of us really don't understand what we need to do to be healthy, or we think we are doing the right things and we aren't. This book really help you to become as healthy as you can be. Overall great book!
