Perfect! thank you December 26, 2008 After trying more than 10 varities of expensive puppy/dog food I was at my wits end of what to do for my 7 month old lab. She had diarrhea from the day we got her at 3 months old. We had her tested for everything our vet could think that might cause it, but couldn't find anything. She had horrible gas and with the last lamb and rice formula food we tried she became lethargic and had to be let out all night long. I finally just decided to try making her food, I searched the internet and found this book. It is a good start and has some really good advice, although I wish it would have had a more detailed list of foods that are ok to feed. The stories in it are inspiring though and it is a good reference material. I'm glad I have it in my library.
A believer November 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My dogs (lab mix 2 yrs and shepherd mix 6yrs) are hardly shedding and are more active. I tried this recipe because of the shedding, but got much more then I expected. I didn't tell people I cooked for my dogs. I wanted to see if I'd get comments. Within 1 week there was a difference. Their coats are shinier (people who knew the dogs commented about their coats) My 6 yr old is back in her "terrible 2's" and the 2 yr old is a puppy again. Because of the activity they both lost weight. I make 6 batches at a time (makes about 20 qts & freeze). My dogs are large so they still get a snack of Purina Beneful but no more meals of dog food. I have recommended this book to 3 other people and they are all believers too.
The whole Pet diet November 17, 2008 I have found that this book has made a great deal of difference with my dog. ( Chihuahua Mix ) His coat is so shiny & everyone that we pass on our walks talks about how soft his coat is. (like silk) He also does not have any more allergies. (eyes use to water, sneezing & licking his paws) It takes a bit longer to prepare his meals (I make up & freeze a large amount) It's good to see him without his licking his paws & looking so good. It's certainly has made a big change in our lives. All for the best!!! Thanks, Theo

Just like people, our pets are suffering from the routine eating of processed foods and the over-consumption of them. Many dogs and cats are suffering from harmful preservatives, cheap fillers and other ill by-products.The book opened my eyes to the organic approach to pet care and achieving top health-care for my pets. There's a complete discussion on what vegetables are excellent for your pet's meals.People, dogs and cats are all mammals and respond the same way to better quality all-natural supplements. If you avoid dispeptic junk food, why not save your pet from the same digestive disorders? A healthier pet will reduce costly maintenance expenses and the veterinarian fees. The holistic approach naturally treats stressful grooming situations for fussy pets. Some twenty-five homemade pet-care recipes are printed for weight-loss and a more attractive canine coat.I never realized that garlic powder and dried rosemary can be combined for a pet's mealtime serving. This pet-care book has some sound advice on the purifying 'detoxification' steps towards your pet's improved well-being.
Changed my dogs life! November 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book details exactly whats in "regular" dog food and trust me the minute you read it you'll throw out all your old dog food and start feeding your dog wholesome, nutritous food. Its easy, the book details what to prepare, what each vegetable has nutritionally for your dog. My three dogs LOVE it. I feed them some of the dry, some of the canned and I also prepare the stew in my own kitchen with food we already eat. They shed less, their breath is sooo much better, they drink less water, due to the lack of too much salt that their old dog food had. They are happy and healthy and therefore so am I. If you love your pet you have to read this book!
